Updates from livin' on the prairies, schoolin' in the city, and seeking time to read during the cacophonous disharmony of life emerging into 2023.

"No man chooses evil because it is evil; he only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks." - Mary Shelley
It's been a while.
This almost feels like a confessional moment.
"Dear Readers, I have sinned, it's been almost seven months since my last confession..."
Though I published an article last night, I must *confess* that I wrote it back in June.
Or sometime near there. It's somewhat blurry.
Truthfully, university's fall semester just came to a close. The last day of exams was today, though I didn't have any after the 16th, leading me to head home to the prairies early! Also, in the process of writing that last sentence, I realized how much I greatly dislike writing the word "prairies"... the first "i" really sneaks up on you!
Nevertheless, when university is alive and thriving, it is very hard to simultaneously divide time between school, forging friendships, visiting home, and balancing a blog. On the topic of forging friendships, I have found some incredible people this past semester. Funnily enough, they're almost all from Minnesota. On a very-much related note, I recently watched "Fargo" and, though this blog focuses on classic literature, I feel like that film can be categorized as a classic film. Not to be classed in the same genre-based time zone of Bacall and Bogart, but is that film similarly as iconic? "You betcha!"
Now, I don't aim to overexaggerate the success of this community, I am certainly not a Bradshaw. However, this blog does serve the purpose of being a vessel for personal writing that deviates from the MLA constraints of my school-based writing. Whilst I am, admittedly, quite a fan of MLA (Chicago < MLA), having an open-ended writing platform that exists on my own terms is so very valuable to me.
I aim to dedicate more time to cultivating posts during winter break and throughout the early weeks of the next semester. I think this will be good for me, having this blog & having you - whoever is reading!
You can likely expect some posts regarding readings I'm doing in my classes as a sort-of "two birds, one stone" scenario. If I'm reading a classic in class, why wouldn't I share it with you? Both the blog AND my metaphorical readers.
Until next time, stay warm & keep kind.
Yours in Academia,
Alias Indiana, the Book-Built Blog.
